Enhancing green spaces on London where all natural pollinators can thrive, and their habitats can be enjoyed by all.

Annual Meeting (November 2022)

Thank you to all the livery representatives and PLT members that attended PLT’s Annual Meeting on 30 November. In the meeting we presented highlights from PLT’s Business Plan 2023 and reflected on PLT’s achievements in 2022.

Lord Mayor's Show 2022

PLT was overjoyed to have a float in the Lord Mayor’s Show 2022. The day was amazing as it allowed PLT to celebrate the new Lord Mayor Nicholas Lyons and also raise awareness of its initiative and core purpose – to protect pollinators by creating and preserving biodiversity corridors across the City of London.

PLT would particularly like to thanks its lead sponsor, the BUPA Foundation, for making this fantastic day possible

We would also like to thank: artist  Alex Hirtzel for creating the structures of our pollinator wings and her beautiful float centerpiece, Beetrice Bee;  e-cargo bikes  for their escort through the City; and Joseph Rochford Gardens Ltd for their generous contribution of our float’s stunning meadow; and our team of volunteers for their dedication to this project.

PLT Dinner: The Economics of Biodiversity Autumn Equinox Dinner (Sept 2022)

In September 2022, PLT held an Equinox Dinner at Vintners’ Hall in the City of London. PLT was delighted to host many of its members and livery company representatives, and honoured to receive addresses from both London’s Lord Mayor Elect, Alderman Nicholas Lyons, and Professor Sir Partha Dasgupta. PLT would not only like to thank its guests and speakers for recognising its work, but also its sponsors Avallen, Martin Miller’s Gin, and Aberfeldy for providing the delicious refreshments. Thanks also to Windowflowers for creating the guests’ beautiful buttonholes.

Capel Manor College (July 2022)

In July, PLT team members and supporters were treated to a tour around the Capel Manor Gardens and a workshop to learn more about the pollinators that exist within the city.

Kew Garden Visit (July 2022)

In July, PLT team members and supporters were given a private tour around Kew Gardens by Kew Gardens Research Leader Dr Hauke Koch. During the tour, PLT guests were informed of the variety of pollinators that exist within the UK as well as the research that is currently taking place to find out more about them and their habitats.

Superbloom (June 2022)

PLT hosted a private event at the Tower of London – whereby 250 guests and representatives of livery companies were able to tour Superbloom’s new wildflower gardens, in what used to be the Tower’s moat. PLT would like to thank Martin Miller’s Gin for sponsoring the refreshments at the reception in the Tower of London’s New Armouries venue.

St Vedast Art Event (March 2022)

In March, PLT hosted an art exhibition at St Vedast-alias-Foster Church with a trio of events. A private viewing for PLT members kicked off the event, which included a week-long public exhibition and a special teaching session for two school classes. Guests were able to enjoy the stunning augmented-reality art of Alex Hirtzel and learn about the pollinator-related compositions and art of Lily Hunter Green. PLT would especially like to thank its sponsors The Goldsmiths Company Charity, The Worshipful Company of Actuaries, The Worshipful Company of Pewterers as well as Martin Miller’s Gin for helping make this event possible.
