On the 27 June, Pollinating London Together held an event at the Tower of London including a private evening viewing of the Superbloom gardens. Guests included PLT Members from City of London livery companies, as well as other PLT Supporters.
Superbloom was introduced to the Tower of London’s now repurposed moat to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen. It brought significant biodiversity to the City of London area, with over 20 million seeds sown in the Tower’s moat. The project is a green haven for pollinators, insects and seed-eating birds, and also brings a spectacular natural beauty to the urban space for the enjoyment of humans.
Guests wandered along a weaving path into the centre of the flowers, an experience enhanced with a sound installation and sculptural elements, followed by a reception in the Tower’s New Armouries with beverages provided by Martin Miller’s Gin.
PLT Chairman John Burton updated guests about PLT’s future plans and Rhiannon Goddard, Head of Public Engagement and Business Management at Historic Royal Palaces, presented background information about the Superbloom project.
