Monitoring & Research

Enhancing green spaces in London where all natural pollinators can thrive, and their habitats can be enjoyed by all.

Monitoring & Research

Building the Evidence for Urban Biodiversity

Long-term monitoring underpins effective conservation.

This section documents Pollinating London Together’s structured surveys, annual pollinator counts, habitat assessments and research collaborations. Our monitoring work generates repeatable, science-led data that informs planting, policy and partnership decisions.

Evidence drives action — and action must be measured.

Each summer, Pollinating London Together coordinates a structured, city-wide pollinator monitoring day across key green spaces in the City of London. Our Annual Pollinator Count brings together volunteers, businesses, schools and members of the public to contribute to a growing body of scientific data on urban pollinator populations.

Pollinator and Habitat Surveys

Each year, Pollinating London Together conducts comprehensive pollinator and habitat surveys to assess the health and diversity of pollinator populations across the City of London and beyond. These surveys involve an assessment of the state of the habitat in its potentil contribution to a habitat for pollinators together with meticulous observations of various pollinator species, including bees, butterflies, and other insects. By mapping out key areas of biodiversity and identifying potential threats, the initiative aims to enhance conservation efforts and promote the creation of pollinator-friendly spaces.
