Deacon Janet Pierotti recently hosted a memorable event, “Evening with the Gardeners,” at Trades Hall in Glasgow, bringing together members of her Chain Gang, Gardeners, and other guests for an enriching evening presentation.

The night was highlighted by the presence of esteemed guest speakers John Burton, Dr. Heather Barrett-Mold OBE, and Dr. Konstantinos Tsiolis, who shared profound insights into the vital work carried out by Pollinating London Together (PLT). The presentation provided much food for thought, and the Master Court expressed their intention to draw inspiration from Pollinating London Together’s initiatives as they shape their strategy for the future.

The evening began with a warm welcome from Deacon Pierotti, setting a convivial tone for the event. Attendees mingled and networked, eagerly anticipating the insights to come. The speakers did not disappoint; their discussions illuminated the innovative efforts of Pollinating London Together in promoting urban biodiversity and supporting pollinators and pollinators habitats. Their expertise and passion were evident, leaving the audience inspired and motivated to consider new approaches in their own gardening and environmental endeavours.

Following the enlightening talks, guests were treated to a delicious buffet. The spread included an array of delectable dishes, complemented by refreshments provided by brewmeister Dr. Adrian Pierotti. The convivial atmosphere during the meal allowed attendees to reflect on the presentations and engage in lively conversations about the future of gardening, environmental stewardship, pollinators and biodiversity.

After the buffet, guests reconvened for a series of ceremonial activities. Which included a gift from Master Nicholas Woolf of the Worshipful Company of Gardeners of London.

The “Evening with the Gardeners” was more than just a gathering; it was a celebration of community, tradition, and the forward-thinking spirit that drives the organisations aims of supporting projects of educational nature connected with horticulture. As the evening drew to a close, attendees left with a sense of fulfilment and inspiration, eager to apply and share the knowledge gained and continue their collective journey towards a greener, more sustainable future.

This is the second time PLT have visited Glasgow to present our ongoing work that we are doing in London, aiming to inspire and encourage the development of a similar initiatives in Glasgow and other urban areas.
